Discovering The 6 Tastes Through Ayurveda

The first interaction of food with the body begins with the tongue and the sense of taste. Ayurveda describes the six tastes by which all food can be generally categorized. They are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent. Each of these tastes has a different effect on the body. By understanding the way each taste affects the three doshas, we can choose foods that will create balance and healing for our individual constitution. As we enter into the spring season (Kapha season), join us at Farmtrue as Kim Welch explores the Ayurvedic principles around how to determine the proper choice of foods for each individual during this season of transition.
